The Maldon & District U3A was launched in May 1998 and has flourished into an enthusiastic Group of 400 Members. Although it is currently up to its 400 member limit, a waiting list is kept for persons wishing to join when space becomes available. The contact is the Membership Secretary.
They have a meeting with a guest speaker usually on the 3rd Monday of each month, now in the Wickham Bishops Village Hall, see the link to "Meeting Place Directions", above.
The doors open at 1.30pm for a 1.45pm start. There are about 40 activity groups available which are held in Members’ houses, various halls and rooms in Maldon. They are all self-regulating and self-funding and their aim is to provide a forum for informed discussion, to develop a practical skill or enjoy a leisure activity in the company of others.
Members are encouraged to form new groups on whatever subject that takes their fancy. They must provide their own co-ordinator and venue etc.
Membership is £15 per year commencing 1st May 2008 (however it maybe paid now!).
Membership Secretary: Contact 01621 828236.
WARNING - anyone not paid by the 1st of May will deemed to no longer be a Member & their place will be reallocated. An excellent Newsletter is published each month and given to Members who attend the Monthly Meeting, otherwise it is posted to their home.

10th Anniversary Meeting
This was held a week later than usual as so many Members were in Liverpool with the Tall Ships.
The Chairman welcomed everyone to the 10th Anniversary Meeting. He then said that we should sit back & look at the following presentation.
Onto the screen came some lovely pictures of rainbows which led to a Tinman from the "Over the Rainbow" films - then "Tinth Anniversary" flashed up & the "penny dropped". Tin was the rare metal for 10 years.
We were then treated to a montage of pictures which followed the progress of the Maldon U3A during the past 10 years.
After a resounding applause the screen produced a slide which said "We are not finished - there is more".
We then sang along with a choir. A tremdous presentation - well done.
